The Challenges
The customer had specifically retrofitted several older machines in production with Smart Audit Trail. Based on this experience, they wanted to develop a standard tool for audit trail functionality that would work across their entire plant infrastructure, which had evolved over many years.
The Solution
A comprehensive analysis of the existing systems was carried out. This included an evaluation of the installed operating systems, which were primarily Windows-based. In addition, a data integrity assessment was conducted for each device to specifically identify all aspects relevant to audit trail compliance for that piece of equipment.
Based on the current production schedule, targeted milestones were developed to retrofit the systems step by step with Smart Audit Trail<sup>(c)</sup>, while keeping production downtime to a minimum.
The Result
The customer now has a standardized tool for conducting audit trail reviews across their site. Previously, employees had to be trained on each new piece of equipment, which often came with yet another standalone audit trail software.
Now, the company has begun training its own power users, who carry out the reviews device by device from a single interface. This is done using the Audit Trail Viewer, without any data needing to be transferred.
The number of lines requiring review has been reduced dramatically—by 80%—and thanks to advanced filtering capabilities, anomalies are identified much more quickly.
